The resistance movement now needs to move from cyberspace to the streets. Everybody opposed to the takeover needs an outlet to show their objection.
Everyone irrespective of age, race or political affiliation should be encouraged to Tag all government property with the letters FF (Free Fiji). This could be written in pen on letters to the government, tagged in spray paint on the doors of unattended government vehicles or on Government buildings. Villages that object to the regime could paint a ring of trees around the village with the logo.
It would take very little for a few people to casually mention this form of objection and start a revolution.

Sweet Success of a Bakery Businesswoman
11/1/2006

In March 2004 Mrs Setaita Wea Matalau(47) attended the CEFE Business Training Program at the NCSMED. She completed the course successfully and received her certificate.

Early on Tuesday 28 March 2006, Mrs Matalau called at the Center to thank the Center for the CEFE business course, which she attended. She is very grateful for the Center in bringing the Course into Fiji and in allowing her to take the course. She was very appreciative of the course content and its relevance to the real world particularly the financial aspects of the program.

Setaita now operates her own bakery in her village of Daliconi,on the island of Vanuabalavu, in Lau. She is trading as Dilton Salele Bakery.

She submitted her loan request to the Fiji Development Bank together with her business plan. She was granted a loan of $5,000.00. Setaita is very thankful to the Center in assisting her with the Business Plan particularly the financial aspects i.e. the cash flow forecast, the projected income statement and the set up costs. The loan has now reduced to $2093.00 and is for a three-year term. Her repayments are in order and the Bank is very confident of her credit worthiness.

The bakery is based at her home in the village and she uses firewood which very cheap. After completing the CEFE business course she attended the bread-baking course at the Cooperatives Department at Draunibota, Lami. She built her own baking oven in the village based on she had learned at Lami.

At this stage she is baking 4 dozen loaves from Monday to Wednesday and 6 to 8 dozens on Thursdays and Fridays. However on Saturdays she bakes 10 dozens and the bakery is closed on Sundays. Her turnover is around $1500.per week. She employs a husband and wife team as her bakers. She is very particular about the ingredients and is very serious about maintaining the quality of her bread.

There is no competition as she is the sole producer on the island. Her clients include the local hospital and the local secondary school. Her plans are to produce hot cross buns to the people on the island this Easter.

She is adamant that her people in the village are to be provided with the same bread quality as the people in Suva!

"for 45 years the people of Burma went from the asian rice producing capital to zilch under their military regime’s rule."

Hmm... try looking at the past twenty years in Fiji. For every year except one, Fiji overspent on its budget (guess which year, we didn't)

Fiji went from a multicultural nation with so much promise to a nation crippled by an outflow of talent, onset of serious corruption, destruction of public institutions (anybody remember the NBF?), and SERIOUS decline in quality of public services.

Fiji cannot even treat little children with broken arms!

This happened under the leadership of taukei nationalism. Please... abandon your hatred.

Educate your people--I promise, I will do my best to help. Help them understand how to leverage their skills and talent. Learn about microfinance.

Institutions like the Centre for Small and Medium-Scale Enterprise located in Suva put on training seminars teaching people how to develop small businesses.

Globalization will wipe out your culture--not Indians.

In order for us ALL to survive, we have to prepare ourselves and give the future generations a fighting chance.

As always, I appreciate being included in your discussions.

Psalm 37
1. Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. 2. For they shall be soon cut down like grass, and wither as the green herb. 10. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shal deligently consider his place, and it shall not be. 12. The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnashed upon him with his teeth. 13. The Lord shall laugh at him: for He seeth that his day are coming. 17. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: 20...They shall vanish; like smoke they shall consume away.

http://blog.flickr.com/2007/09/25/burma-protests/

People,
for 45 years the people of Burma went from the asian rice producing capital to zilch under their military regime’s rule. When the military regime recently hiked the price of fuel in Myannmar (Burma), the citizens protested. Monks led a peaceful protest in the streets recently, and crowds gathered around these monks to protect them from the military police. On the second day of the military crackdown, monks were taken from their monastary, from the streets, people have been killed including foreign nationals.

That’s what could happen to Fiji …soon. Why wait 45 years, or even 15 years for this to happen.. Prevent that from happening by acting now…

I thought of the exact same thing. Maybe you are old enough to remeber the start of that as well. Which is why i sometimes give shit to “TruthSeeker”. I watched the vitimediawatchdog, the start of which sounded like I was in sync with including trickle downs and right wing facist stuff and some valid criticism of SDL - then the naivety of it struck home.
Shame he/she wasn’t in NZ around 87 or she’d have realised that THIS VERY IG has embarked on the very same route in a bid to get a little cash to finance their venture - i.e. corporatise or make companies out of Public Service institutions and assets. He/she criticises the banker Qarase, though in reality this junta has embarked on the very same route in the name of efficiency, effectiveness and every other buzz word they can dream up to disguise their real agenda.
The trick is, you throw as much shit at your opponent as you possibly can, call them corrupt, fat cats and all that (as a hell of a lot of them are), which provides you with a perception of a moral high ground. More than that, people begin to think you’re on a genuine mission, when in fact they’re even more corrupt, desire the “baubles of power” - to quote Winnie the Poo more than their opponents because they bitter and twisted at their own spectacular failure.
VB (f#$%! in the head as he is) may well have been good intentioned. trouble is he ain’t the brains of Britain, delusional, and open to suggestion from people he is impressed by. Sounds like half the RFMF is of a similar mind.
In NZ, we have a similar problem. A police force whose collective intelligence quotient rivals a monkey. They’ve never been especially clever over the past few decades, but it’s worse now because not only are they thick in the front-line ranks, but they’re scared - and that’s when it gets dangerous. A man with a hammer warrants a bullet in the chest, whereas previously a couple of cops armed only with a batton would have taken the pratt on.
There’s another parallel for ya. The barrel of a gun is supposed to signify some sort of macho power advantage.
I’m afraid the once proud RFMF should be dressing themselves up in a lovely shade of pastel pink - especially that wannabe macho-man closet homo son of Frank’s (and he knows it).
